What Does Guy Sands Like to Do in His Free Time?

Guy Sands has accomplished much in his life. This storied military professional may now be retired, but he has held numerous positions in the United States Army. He retired as a Senior Executive Professional and a Brigadier General, and holds seven degrees and diplomas from institutions in the United States and the United Kingdom. Although Sands is incredibly accomplished, he also makes time to enjoy many different hobbies and interests.

Sands enjoys sports, like many Americans. He particularly enjoys watching football, baseball, and hockey, with his favorite teams including the Washington Capitals and the Washington Nationals. In his youth, he enjoyed playing rugby and running track and field. In his free time, Sands also enjoys going ice skating and skiing with his family.

From a young age, Sands was a piano prodigy and would have pursued a professional career if he did not have military aspirations. He learned to play the piano at the age of 8 and continued to study the art. By the age of 14, he was the youngest professional organist in New York City. Although he does not play professionally, Sands enjoys playing and listening to classical music in his free time. His favorite composers include Bach and Brahms.

 

In addition to his hobbies, Sands belongs to numerous professional organizations and enjoys attending their events. He is a lifetime member of the Society of American Military Engineers, the Association of the United States Army, the American Legion, and the Civil Affairs Association. Guy Sands also belongs to the Senior Executive Association, the American Political Science Association, the Reserve Officers Association, and the Army and Navy Club.
